About Kosheristic
Kosheristic is a guide to kosher places to eat in Deal, New Jersey and the nearby Jersey Shore towns. It is for people who already know this stretch of the shore and want a list they can search.
The site is independent. It is not the Jersey Shore Orthodox Rabbinate, and it does not certify restaurants. The name is Kosheristic, for kosheristic.com.
Towns
Deal, Long Branch, Pier Village, West End, Oakhurst and Ocean Township, Allenhurst, Loch Arbour, West Long Branch, Asbury Park, and Eatontown.
Pier Village and West End are parts of Long Branch here, so they can be filtered on their own. The town printed on each listing is the town from the file, unchanged.
Kashrus
Kosheristic is not the vaad. It is not the Jersey Shore Orthodox Rabbinate, and it does not certify restaurants. Hashgacha on a listing is copied from the file and can change. Confirm supervision with the restaurant or with JSOR before you rely on it. If a row does not name a certifier, the page does not add one.
JSOR publishes its list at jsor.org. The vaad’s office is listed as 732-759-0388 andoffice@jsor.org, with@jsor_deal on Instagram. Standards are not the same at every place. The certificate is the source of truth.
What a listing shows
Only what is in restaurants.csv. A blank phone, website, hours, price, rating, menu, or order link is left off the page. Those blanks are not filled with guesses.
- Meat or dairy is shown only when the file says Meat or Dairy. Anything else is unknown.
- Meal tags — breakfast, lunch, dinner, shop, or treats — are filled only when the place’s category or its own description makes the occasion clear. A blank meal field stays off the card.
- Season is shown when the file says seasonal, or when it mentions club or membership access. Nothing in the file is marked year-round. Unknown means the field is blank, not that the place is open all year.
- The type filter — restaurant, catering, market / grocery, or other — is a reading of the category label, so the list can be narrowed. The words on the card are the category from the file.
service_typeis empty in the current file. If it is filled in later, that value is what the site will use.
Status
Soya and Gray Street are marked closed as of November 5, 2026. Supper Club is marked coming soon. Those notes are not a live open-or-closed feed.
Shabbat
Places in this community typically close for Shabbat — Friday night and Saturday. That note lives once, here and in the footer, not on each listing. Hours appear only when the listing includes them. This site does not invent a schedule.
Norwood Avenue
Many Deal addresses on Norwood Avenue in the 200s are physically in Ocean Township. The guide still shows the town as written, and those listings include a short note.
Instagram and ordering
Where the file has an Instagram handle, the listing links to that profile. The site does not embed or scrape feeds. Handles that were only guessed in the research notes are not used.
When a listing has an order link, an Uber Eats link, or another order URL, the page links out. Menus are not copied here. Those columns are empty in the current file.
Changes
Listings change. A place can lose certification, close for the season, or move. Confirm with the restaurant or with JSOR when the certificate matters.
To update the guide, edit restaurants.csv and rebuild the site.
